Overview:

This seminar teaches participants the standards for writing quality Army correspondence. Participants learn the preparation and management of the three forms of correspondence authorized for use within the Army. Army writing formats are important, but writing quality is equally as important. During this seminar students will learn how to make their writing more organized, natural, compact, and active, in support of the Army Effective Writing Program. Additionally, participants will learn to write Army correspondence without becoming wordy, pompous, or overly formal.

 

Objectives:
At the end of the workshop participants should be able to:

  • Prepare effective Army Correspondence
  • Overcome stubborn old writing habits
  • Use modern writing for clearer correspondence
  • Use action verbs rather than passive verbs
  • Reduce excess words so the reader does not grope for the “bottom line”
  • Structure letters and reports so they call attention to the most important concepts
  • Write disciplined sentences for greater organization
  • Apply Army writing standards for improved communication
